A Bicycle built for four...

Hello everyone! I have been playing on my front porch again. With the Fourth of July coming up and my new bicycle planter I needed to update the porch again.

I just love this little bike planter built for four plants!  I still can't believe my sister gave it to me! I planted the three larger baskets with Double Inpatients.  This is first time I have tried my hand at them.  They are so pretty - looks almost like miniature  roses. In the smaller basket I planted some Creeping Jenny.

I bought the flowers on Friday and it rained all weekend, which knocked off most of the blooms.

I added some flags, star wands and the Dollar Store center piece to add some Fourth of July celebration to the porch.

What's more American then the flag and bicycles?!

The rest of the porch stayed pretty much the same except for some more flags.  Hope you enjoyed the new additions to the porch.  Thanks so much for stopping by, your comments really make my day.

Laundry Room Update

Hello all! I can't believe this is my second post of the day - I have never done that before.  I have been collecting a few things to update my laundry room.  It was functional, but not very pretty.  Here's a before:

Wow, this looks even worse in the picture.  But, truly nothing really cheerful, and a little bit messy.

Better already! I hung a couple of flower pictures and placed all the clothes hangers at the end over the dryer.

I then added a basket with this cute sign wired to the front - "Clean Single Looking for a Mate".  Makes me smile just looking at it.  Hopefully this will make the lost sock want to be back with its mate! lol I also added a small glass jar for all the loose change I collect - if they leave it in their pockets it's mine!!

On this side of the shelf I added another laundry sign and placed all my extra detergents, softener, etc, in the basket.  I always have so much detergent - every time it is on sale I buy it whether needed or not!

On the other end of the shelf is a glass jar full of clothes pins, the Fleur de lis and another basket to hide extra supplies.

While cleaning out the baskets on the shelf I found this two striped rugs, thought they would work for in front of the washer/dryer. I am going to sew them together tonight.

The last thing I did was change the cover of the ironing board.  This was the Misters from before we where married. It had burns on it and all kinds of Navy iron ons. He was not happy I changed it - said there was a lot of memories on that cover. Maybe I should go get it out the trash? Thanks for stopping by to see the updated laundry room. I really love to read all your comments.

Shopping in NC

Hello! I went to NC to help my sister decorate her new (to her) home.  This is the first home she has ever bought.  Her husband was in the Air Force and most of their time was spent in Okinawa, Japan.  In January he was sent to Korea for a year, after only one week he was found dead in his room. They have a 5 year old son and a 8 year old daughter. So what should of been a fun and happy occasion has been full of ups and downs for her.  I normally would not share such personal information, but just another reminder to thank our soldiers and always hug your loved ones tight and not take them for granted.

OK - now for some fun stuff. We did a lot of shopping!  Here are a few of the things I picked up.  Love the little wooden basket.

This is a close up of the wooden basket - love the curvy design along the sides. This was only $6!

And this is the way it looks today.

Filled with beautiful hydrangeas - just looking at them make me smile!

I love all the different shades of pink, violet and white.  These where picked from next door. The house is empty and for sale, so this year I have had an abundance of flowers. I have loved it!!

I also got this very large cloche - 18 inches high. I can't wait to play with this today. It was also a bargain at $10!  The prices in this area where so reasonable, next time I will bring the truck with me!

These shiny white fruits where also a steal at $4.50. They have already found a home on the bookcase on the side of the island.

This so cute bicycle planter was in my sisters front yard when she moved in, she did not like it so home it came with me. A trip to Home Depot is on the agenda today to find some pretty flowers to fill it's four baskets.  Thanks, Sis!!

That is just a few of the many things I picked up. My sister got some great deals also. Including a industrial cart coffee table and a beautiful hutch.  I will share these soon.

Thought I would share the hydrangeas  that came out of my yard.  My hydrangea bush is so large that right now it has over thirty blooms on it.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the visit and the time you take to leave me a comment.

Antiques or Junk?

Hello and thanks for stopping by for a visit.  My 14 year old son loves to go to antique stores with me - who would of thought?! He is such great company and we always have so much fun.  Saturday we went to Fleu de Coop in Marietta, GA.

This is such a fun shop. They have everything from French antiques, rusty gates, dishes and garden items - and anything in between. The first thing we saw when we got out of the car is this huge deer.

And who could forget the suite of armor? Now I wonder where this would fit?

He is guarding the door leading to the outside garden/yard area.  There was so much that I would of loved to taken home with me!

Like this rusty wheelbarrow - can't you see it planted with some colorful flowers and parked out in the yard?

Or how about this big old wooden flag, perfect for all summer long.

Then there is the old, rusty fence....... let's head by inside and see what we can find.

Swoon...just look at the beautiful bed. Love the detail on the top and the sides.

This set of eight chairs - gorgeous! The clock is not bad either.

I know a lot of you love old scales, I think this was around $25.

I thought this was pretty unique. Love the eagle on the top.

Then there are the wine bottles in crates, $128 each. They where sitting on a monster of a table - 8 foot square with benches. You can see some of the stained glass in the back ground.  That is what I am on the hunt for.  We are having our  deck screened in and I would love to add a piece of stained glass at the bottom of the gable. In case you where wondering my son was on the look out for old kerosene lanterns, swords, old cameras and old phones.  We have different interest, but we always get so excited when one of us finds the "perfect" piece we are looking for.  I hope you enjoyed spending Saturday afternoon junking with us. I am in no way connected with this store - just love to stop by and see what's new.  Thanks so much for visiting and I really appreciate each and every comment.

Cross Table

Hello and thanks for stopping by for a visit.  I have mentioned that my Mom downsized and I was lucky enough for her to gift me was some special pieces of furniture. The piece I'm showing you today is a little console table.

I placed it between the garage door and the back stairs. It is old and needs some sprucing up.  It also has a mirror that goes with it, but as you can see I have my cross collection on this wall. I am trying to decide should  I should paint it or strip and refinish.

My favorite things on the table are these cute little glitter angels in front of the iron cross. I love the contrast.

This cross floral arrangement I got back in the fall and thought it looked right at home with all the crosses on the wall.

And you all know how us Southern Girls love a monogram.  The candle I picked up at HG and smells of gardenia. It is so yummy!

Here is another picture of the "cross wall". I only started collecting a few months ago and my wall is almost complete.  It started with one I found and then I was seeing them everywhere.  I guess this is how a collection starts!

Thanks for stopping by, and I really enjoy all your comments.

I thought the cows came home....

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a small update in the kitchen.  I have a corner sink with windows on either side (see picture in my header). I have been looking for the longest time for something to put over the windows. The problem is every piece of art I have found has not run horizontal but vertical. Well a few weeks ago I had taken my Mom to Rooms to Go for a new bed since she was down sizing.  There was a big sign on the door all accessories where 75% off!! Yes you read that right.  I hate to admit it, but my eyes glazed and I sorta abandoned Mom while I did a quick turn around the store to see what was available.

Sorry for the washed out picture, having camera problems and am using my point and shoot.  Anyhoo - I was so excited to find these cow pictures - painted on canvas, stretched over a box type frame and the perfect size for over the windows.  After admiring them on the counter top and then the Mister hanging them for me- well I loved these cows!! Now - how many of you have noticed there is only one cow?! Yes, it took my 14 year old son to point out that the one on the right is a bull!!! Much joking at my expense then took place - even though the Mister did not notice either!

Bull or Cows...it really makes this corner look more finished.  Oh, forgot that these pictures where only $30 each! I also picked up a few more bargain's that I will share soon.

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate your taking the time to leave me a comment.

Coffee Table Changes

Hello all! Hope everyone had a restful, fun Mother's Day Weekend. I know I did! Today I thought I would share the family room coffee table.  I have been doing a little shopping, so it was time to use some of the things I have bought.

Yes, a glass top table. So not what I wanted, but after looking for over a year to find one the right size that was not $3000+,  this is what I got.  The little bird vases where a recent find at HG. I just fell in love with them. This room is so dark that I have been trying to use more white to brighten it up. And since I can go to the yard and bring some of my smaller blooms in, they do double duty to lighten and brighen the room up.

A close up of the sweet birds with some rained beaten blooms.  We had over a inch and a half of rain yesterday! The blue-purple is my lace cap hydrange and the pink I can not remember the name, but they grow fast and come back year after year.

I love this little orchid sitting on a silver tray with cloche protecting it. Makes me smile.

I picked up this cute little bird tray a few months ago at Queen of Hearts Antiques, and placed some moss balls in it.  I guess my trend is to use more natural elements to lighten and brighten.

On this side I used these large "twig" balls.  I found these and the moss balls at Kohl's of all places. I really like the texture them bring to the slick glass.

Here's another view from the breakfast area.  You see the elephant in the room right? - all 73 inches! What's a girl to do when the Mister asks for so little?

Here's a view taken in front of the fireplace, looking towards the foyer to the left and dining room to the right. In the dining room you can see my next project - a drum table to refinish.

Thanks so much for visiting, I love hearing from you!

Front Porch

Hello - Thanks for stopping by for a tour of my front porch.

Yesterday I was out playing on the front porch. I had started painting my rockers last week, and hope to finish in the next day or two.

The rockers are looking great - all fresh and clean and ready to take on the Georgia heat another year. The inital pillows are my easy no sew pillows from last fall and I picked up the red ones for contrast at Kohls. The little tea cart was a find from HG's last year. In the copper watering can some faux flowers that match my new wreath.

The wreath was a bargin at Michael's last week - 40% off then I had a 25% off coupon - so less the $20 and it was mine.  The only problem with it is the birds seem to think the berries are real!

Heres a close up on the berries along with the garden tools and gloves on the other side. The local Michaels here has such a great floral designer and the sames are so good that I normally don't design my own stuff any more.

Here's another view of the wreath and under it a cute little box I planted some flower in.

Here's  a view looking down the other end of the porch.  I have a large planter with some "thriller, spiller & filler".

I am not sure why I chose "silver dust" but am going to be transplanting that to the yard and pick up something different for this pot.

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing my freshed up front porch.  Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit.
